From parking into park...

An event - assertion, focused on the necessity for more public spaces, parks, urban spaces of meeting, communication, walking, celebration, real life. A mass crowd of all ages, mainly residents of the densely populated neighborhood of Exarchia, responded to the open call by the Committee of the Residents of Exarchia for this intervention. The main purpose is to transform the ex parking -property of TEE (Technical Professional Chamber)- into a space of high green for the neighborhood of Exarchia and its residents.
The presence of the people was mass and dynamic all day. They managed to remove carefully the cement from the ground, plant trees and flowers and placed two wooden seats. The event was including photography exhibition, painting workshop for children, food, music and good cheer!
We may not know the final form of this urban space, but we still have to support the residents who showed with their dynamic presence that such a vision is not only necessary but also possible. It is our obvious right, our right to the city.
